Since guitar world and string world are so different, it’s hard to compare them when it comes to cost of ownership of an instrument. I would say that if violas and violins were cheap like guitars (comparatively), and I had unlimited cash, I’d buy as many as I could get my hands on.
And you L-O-V-E the Casino, probably in an unhealthy way even. (don’t worry, I have this same intimacy with my viola, Steve). So, I say BUY IT! BUY AS MANY AS YOU CAN!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Just catching up on your blogs. I would be bitter too that someone outbid me at the last second. Must be some Northern Leech.
Since you were listening to some polekitties, thought I would share this from a cpl weeks back. To summarize that experience, boys are stinky…especially Polecats!
